Sompo has a unique opportunity for an Underwriter in our Financial Institutions Business Unit.
Our U.S. and Canada Financial Lines team provides a wide range of specialized insurance solutions for traditional financial institutions and alternative asset managers. Our experienced and dedicated underwriting team has the expertise to provide clients with a level of service and understanding that is unrivalled in the industry. Our team considers clients of all sizes, both public and private, with a focus on alternative asset managers, such as investment advisors, hedge funds, private equity funds, real estate funds, BDCs, and REITS. We also seek traditional risks such as mutual funds, banks, and insurance companies.

What you will be doing:
Focus on the production, underwriting, and servicing of profitable Financial Institutions business with an emphasis on assigned producers and territories
Conduct account reviews/referrals and underwrite within underwriting guidelines and authority
Develop and negotiate price, coverage, and terms and conditions for new business and renewals and actively identifying account rounding opportunities
Develops a marketing plan for each assigned producer/territory, including tactics for individual broker success at the ground level
Collaborate with department practice leader, underwriting, operations, claims, marketing and home office product management
Assists in the implementation and distribution strategy for the Region that will enable maximum penetration of profitable business
Creates and utilizes marketing materials and other product collateral to support marketing and production initiatives
Monitors all industry and specific account trends through reading of the WSJ, Capital IQ, SNL, Moody’s and other data sources
Implements a field service reputation that is recognized as superior in the industry
What you will be bring:
1-3 years in the financial sector and/or underwriting & Insurance experience preferred
Strong analytical skills including financial analysis
Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to effectively collaborate with all levels of internal and external business partners
Sound, balanced, and timely decision-making skills
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Salary Range: $65,000 - $125,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
