About the role:
NFU Mutual is looking for a commercially minded Senior Finance Business Partner to lead our strategic cost optimisation efforts and shape the long-term financial future of our business.
Serving as a trusted adviser to the Senior Management team, this is a pivotal role within our Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team, offering the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership and make a tangible impact on performance, planning, and strategic decision-making.
You'll be a key part of the Strategy & Group FP&A team, leading the delivery of our cost optimisation programme and long-term cost projections. You’ll take ownership of our Activity Based Costing (ABC) allocations and steer ten-year performance models, helping embed cost efficiency across the organisation.
Your focus will be on driving strategic initiatives to improve cost visibility, accuracy, and accountability, ensuring cost insights are central to our planning and forecasting. You’ll guide the design and delivery of cost allocation methodologies across short, mid, and long-term cycles, supporting decisions with high-quality analysis and recommendations.
Partnering with senior stakeholders across Finance and the wider business, you’ll lead the charge in aligning cost structures with strategic goals. You’ll also oversee continuous improvements in modelling accuracy, segmentation, and cost driver relevance to keep our processes sharp and insightful.
Key duties include:
- Lead strategic cost optimisation and long-term financial planning
- Own cost allocation and segmentation methodologies across key planning cycles
- Deliver actionable insights through clear, data-driven analysis and storytelling
- Drive continuous improvement in cost modelling and reporting
- Collaborate across teams to embed financial performance into decision-making
This is a standout opportunity to play a key role in shaping long-term financial strategy at the heart of a trusted, industry-leading organisation.
About you
You have a diverse range of skills to excel in this dynamic role. Strong prioritisation skills are essential to effectively manage competing demands and ensure that critical tasks are completed on time and with precision. Attention to detail is paramount, as accurate financial analysis and reporting are crucial to informing key business decisions. Furthermore, adaptability is key in navigating the evolving landscape of the insurance and financial services industry.
Technical skills required:
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience in finance business partnering roles.

- Financial knowledge of modelling, analysis, evaluation and forecasting with strong analytical skills and attention to detail, to drive commercial insight.
- Strong strategic and critical thinking skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights and recommendations.
