Job Description
Assistant Vice President, Small Fleet Transportation and Sharing Economy Claims
S&S Transportation & Sharing Economy is looking for an Assistant Vice President, Claims who enjoys being a key part of a dynamic team. The AVP, Claims is responsible for leading the overall claims function for the Small Fleet Transportation Claims Unit and Sharing Economy Claims Unit. The role is integral to the profit center’s business unit and is a key contributor to the development and execution of the profit center’s goals and strategies.
This position may be fully remote.
What you will do for C&F:
- Set strategic direction and vision for the team in collaboration with senior leadership.
- Creating, implementing and managing a long-term strategy that aligns the claims team to the division’s objectives.
- Work with other functions within the company will include playing an active role in the retention of new business and renewal of current business.
- Oversees the vetting, monitoring and auditing of all TPA entities and coordinates recommendations with divisions who utilize their services.
- For claims in litigation, helps develop litigation management strategies and ensures they are developed and executed.
- Will work collaboratively with front-line claim personnel and claim managers to execute on enterprise-wide initiatives to impact bottom line financial results.
- Provide claim oversight authority to Third Party Administrators, market Independent Adjusters, or internal staff, while utilizing strategic experience related to reserving and settlement.
- Develops strategic annual department planning activities.
- Establish and monitor benchmarks and metrics for team performance
- Drives training, initiatives and projects.
- Administer strategic direction for the appropriate analysis of claims ensuring claims are resolved in an equitable and timely manner.
- Analyze and review requests above the adjusters’ authority limits and provide direction to adjusters in the presentation of claims to senior management.
- Collaborate with business unit partners to develop new products, strengthen existing product through policy wording modification and improvement, and identify market trends that may have an impact on the Unit’s profitability and business results.
- Monitor and collate report of loss trends and exposures and communicate observations in quarterly and biannual meetings with actuarial and underwriting.
- Participate in monthly account renewal meetings with underwriting partners.
- Effectively maintain quality service by proactively communicating with staff, senior management, business unit partners, and customers, and ensure that the unit staff members adhere to the organization’s expectation of superior quality service.
What you will bring to C&F:
- Minimum of 10 to 15+ years related experience in Small Fleet Transportation. Three plus years in the Sharing Economy space.
- College degree is required (or equivalent work experience); a designation and/or insurance related courses are a plus.
- Obtain and maintain required state licenses.
- Ability to multi-task and handle a high volume of losses in multiple claims systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential and the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
- Proficient computer skills with a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs a must.
- Occasional travel required.

Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $100,400.00 to a maximum of $188,700.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
