Position Summary
As a Senior Underwriter, you are responsible for building a book of business, coaching and mentoring underwriters and underwriting assistants. The majority of this role will be spent analyzing and underwriting a $25-40M book of business for Commercial Lines which includes determining risk acceptability, pricing, underwriting guidelines, developing positive agency relationships within assigned territories, auditing underwriting files and accounts and improving on underwriting processes. In addition to the underwriting function of your role, you will serve as a front-line manager of Velocity, developing a team of Underwriters and Underwriter Trainees through proactive coaching and engagement in their daily performance to build their skills and proficiencies. You will partner with the department AVP’s and Head of MMB to proactively solution and present new ideas for better underwriting framework and product offerings.

The core responsibilities of this role are…
- Underwriting a GWP $25-40M book of business
- Assist the Head of MMB in overseeing the underwriting functions of MMB.
- Partner with business units (Claims, Compliance, Operations) to prioritize projects, efficiencies and best practices for optimal underwriting and business performance.
- Lead a team of underwriters and underwriting assistants.
Work Experience and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience
- 7+ years of commercial insurance experience
- Professional insurance designations a plus
- Previous management and leadership experience

The target salary range for this position is $103,565.00 - $120,000.00 annually.
The wage range for this role considers many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, and market demands. The pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Full-time roles are eligible for bonuses and benefits.
