What will your job entail?
We are seeking motivated individuals at all stages of their underwriting careers—from recent graduates and trainees to experienced professionals—to join our dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to underwrite E&S property and casualty risks, contribute to innovative insurance solutions, and grow within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.
Key Responsibilities (Scope Adjusted by Experience Level):
Risk Assessment & Underwriting:
Evaluate new and renewal property and casualty submissions. Analyze policy forms, endorsements, and supporting documentation in line with company guidelines. Junior team members will receive training and mentorship to develop these skills.
Decision-Making:
Determine risk acceptability, pricing, and coverage terms based on factors such as location, usage, safety features, and exposure. Senior underwriters may handle complex risks and provide guidance to junior staff.
Portfolio Management:
Manage assigned accounts to ensure profitability and compliance. Contribute to business planning and forecasting. Entry-level candidates will support these efforts while building their technical knowledge.
Broker & Client Engagement:
Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients. Collaborate across teams to ensure timely and accurate service delivery. All team members are expected to contribute to a positive client experience.
Compliance & Documentation:
Ensure underwriting practices align with regulatory requirements and internal standards. Maintain accurate records and documentation.
Market Awareness & Development:
Stay informed on industry trends, emerging risks, and market dynamics. Participate in training, seminars, and marketing activities. Senior underwriters may represent the company at industry events.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Risk Management, Business, Actuarial Science, or a related field. Equivalent work experience will also be considered.
Experience:
- Trainee/Associate Level:Internship or academic exposure to insurance or risk management.
- Mid-Level:2–5 years of underwriting experience in property and casualty.
- Senior Level:5+ years of experience with a strong track record in E&S underwriting and portfolio management.
Licensing & Certifications:
- Must meet state requirements for P&C and/or surplus lines licenses (or be willing to obtain).
- CPCU or other industry certifications are a plus, especially for senior roles.

The target salary range for this position is $68,000.00 - $85,000.00 annually.
The wage range for this role considers many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, and market demands. The pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Full-time roles are eligible for bonuses and benefits.
