IAT Insurance Group has an immediate opening for a Manager, Underwriting Support for the Commercial Transportation business segment, The ideal candidate will have a blend of P&C and Leadership experience as well as a continuous process perspective when it comes to the work. Please note, IAT works on a hybrid schedule, working from the office Monday through Wednesday with the option of working remotely Thursday and Friday.
This role will be responsible for leading and directing Commercial Transportation Operations staff to ensure compliance with goals and objectives as set forth by the Operations’ management team. This position will be in one of our following offices:
- Alpharetta, GA
- Raleigh, NC
- Omaha, NE
Responsibilities:

Provides leadership to assigned front line staff and leaders by leading organizational change; developing and empowering staff; cultivating relationships; putting staff in a position to succeed, meeting their personal career goals while also achieving organizational goals; building effective teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals; driving engagement and creating a climate where staff are motivated to do their best.
- Manage staff to meet performance and production expectations.
- Evaluate workflow procedures and make recommendations for improvement.
- Maintain appropriate staff levels to anticipate and meet production needs of the business.
- Evaluate and manage employee performance, providing periodic written and oral feedback in accordance with company policy.
- Maintain effective relationships with agency personnel to meet service level agreements and improve overall service.
- Perform periodic quality control of employee’s production to ensure accuracy.
- Exercise good judgment, maintain confidentiality, exhibit a professional demeanor and possess a mature, executive presence.
- Provide production and performance reports as requested by management.
- Assume other responsibilities as directed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must Have:
- Bachelor’s degree required with a minimum of 7 years of underwriting support leadership experience; or equivalent
- Equivalent is defined as having 11 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of insurance industry, product lines, and market.
- Statistical and analytical skills.
- Project and process management skills.
- Ability to lead and manage a team to produce consistent decisions based on effective risk assessment skills.
