The opportunity:
We have an excellent opportunity for a Commercial Paralegal to join the team in our Manchester office. This is a new team at Markel Law with this role being an office-based role in Manchester. The work is fast moving and interesting, with high volumes of matters across a board range of commercial, intellectual property and corporate matters. The successful candidate will receive full training in our internal practices and procedures.
Markel Law LLP (Markel Law) is an independent SRA authorised and regulated legal business offering services to both insured and non-insured clients. Our clients and business partners comprise businesses, high net worth individuals, and associations across a broad spectrum of industries.
We operate out of offices in Manchester, Leeds, London and Croydon and employ over 60 specialist solicitors. Our legal teams guide, support, defend and protect clients through a wide range of key legal services.
What you’ll be doing:
Offer day to day support to qualified solicitors within the team by undertaking fee earning work
Be able to scope the needs of the client and provide legal advice
Be able to manage their small case load
Deliver billing and other key performance indicators
Assist the teams administrators when required to open new matters on our case management system, monitoring and distributing incoming post and emails
Ensuring all files are maintained within required standards
Assist with diary management, co-ordinate client appointments including liaising with new and existing clients
Assist with the completion of billing for the team
Be able to meet crucial deadlines and display key time management skills.
Gain excellent communication skills
Our must haves:
Have experience of working within the legal sector – ideally within commercial
Demonstrate strong communication and organisational skills with an ability to prioritise workload
Have good IT skills, certainly with experience in using Microsoft Office 2010, and with experience of Partner for Windows being very beneficial also
Excellent data entry skills, including strong attention to detail and accuracy
Demonstrate first class client care and communication skills across all levels
Have high attention to detail and accurate case management skills.
Excellent written communication skills
Effective team player, demonstrate positive and co-operative interaction with team members
