JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
- Contribute to the development and execution of pricing and industry-leading risk reduction strategies.
- Compile, create and/or perform technical reviews of actuarial memorandums for rate filing purposes, including preparation of actuarial exhibits and data summaries. Efficiently prepare error-free state filing forms, exhibits, memos and supporting materials for regulatory filings.
- With little direction, research and analyze regulator questions using internal and external resources. Make recommendations to business partners to influence filing outcomes.
- Analyze and review financial data to help inform future business strategy.
- Drive process improvements to gain efficiencies, while creating repeatable and auditable processes. Ensure tools and processes produce efficient, consistent, and accurate information. Identify shortcomings with existing tools and processes and propose solutions.
- May perform additional duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of the insurance industry as well as understanding of CNA’s products, services, goals and objectives.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNA's internal and external business partners.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively resolve complex situations and issues.
- Solid project management, organization, and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and bring items to closure.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and make critical business decisions effectively within scope of authority based on data analyses and reviews.
- Ability to comprehend business data and metrics and to further articulate analyses of actuarial financial data within internal reports.
- Knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.
- Not required, but a plus: knowledge of programming and/or data visualization tools such as Alteryx, Tableau, SAS/SQL/R.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline, such as accounting, actuarial science, finance, analytics or other equivalent.
- Typically, three to five years of related work experience.

In Illinois, the average base pay range for a Pricing Consultant is $76,000 to $95,000. Salary determinations are based on various factors, including but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location.
In certain jurisdictions, CNA is legally required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. In District of Columbia,California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York and Washington, the national base pay range for this job level is $54,000 to $103,000 annually. Salary determinations are based on various factors, including but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location.
