Convex US is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Convex Insurance UK Ltd (“Convex UK”), and as such, has substantial capital support to assure not only a successful startup but long-term financial success. We are a MGU for Convex Insurance UK Ltd. that underwrites specialty insurance in the commercial property and casualty market.

This is a fantastic new opportunity for a talented, energetic, and ambitious individual to join our growing team. In this role, the ideal candidate would possess sound knowledge of Environmental Liability Coverages including Contractors Pollution, Site Pollution, and Combined Form and leverage existing relationships to achieve production goals for our Environmental products while collaborating with team members to build out the next phase of Convex US. This position would report to Alan Hooper, VP, Environmental Lead. The successful candidate will aid in producing significant new business and maintain renewals in accordance with authority levels and established guidelines, establish and maintain broker relationships, participate in special projects, and support the the overall production goals of Convex US.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the Environmental Lead in successfully building the Environmental book, new products, broker base, and growing the team.
- Foster strong productive and profitable relationships with producers, communicate appropriate underwriting appetite, and grow our Environmental products within established underwriting guidelines and letter of authority.
- Demonstrate a willingness to be hands-on in supporting the Environmental underwriting team organize and help maintain databases, electronic filing systems, etc that are necessary to understand/follow the status of various tasks owned by underwriters, such as submission tracking, account communications, inspections, audits, quote and bind status, and policy issuance.
- Analyze and review new & renewal business to grow and maintain a profitable book of Environmental business.
- Underwrite, maintain, and grow the portfolio in accordance with the Environmental business plan, strategy, authority levels and regulatory environment.
- Ensure efficient working practices are in place e.g., identify process improvements, and escalate issues to Environmental Lead.
- Proactively assist with account management, portfolio management and achievement of service goals.
- Maintain appropriate appetite alignment between London and U.S. portfolios.
- Travel to meet with brokers, engage in marketing, and attend and participate in industry conferences, and for internal meetings as needed.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Minimum 8+ years of Environmental Casualty, Site Pollution, and Contractors Pollution Liability
- Extensive knowledge of the excess and surplus lines market
- History of exemplary customer service within a professional work environment
- Must possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to be a part of a high performing and dynamic underwriting team.
- Focused with good attention to detail and follow-through
- Willingness to take on a variety of tasks whether mundane or exciting to achieve desired outcomes
