IAT Insurance Group has an immediate opening for a skilled and motivated Senior Underwriter within the Commercial Truck Team to support our fleet segment (11 or more power units). The ideal candidate will have a competitive drive and bring at least five years of underwriting experience, with a strong foundation in multi-line risk assessment and agency marketing. Experience underwriting for-hire motor carrier fleets is preferred, but we’re open to candidates with middle market experience who have underwritten fleets of vehicles and large trucks. This role can be located in Scottsdale, Arizona or Spring, Texas.
The title and the salary associated with any offer will reflect the selected candidate's experience and knowledge. We will consider candidates with significantly more or slightly less experience.
This role will work a hybrid schedule from one of our IAT Office locations. The hybrid schedule reflects our values (thinking and acting like an owner, collaboration, and teamwork) as it requires working from the office with colleagues and other disciplines Monday through Wednesday, with the option of working remotely on Thursday and Friday. Occasional travel is required.
Responsibilities:

Evaluate, assess, and price accounts, and if necessary, present accounts in collaboration to obtain authority for a specific account.
- Manage, evaluate, analyze, and assess a book of new and renewal business, in a fast-paced environment, making recommendations as to pricing, acceptability, coverage considerations, cancellations, non-renewals, etc., to maximize profitability. This involves interpreting, trending, and developing loss information from prior carriers, analyzing financial information, and preparing governmental and industry reports specifically for each account.
- Travel, as needed, to work with assigned agents to evaluate submission flow, evaluate account acceptability, and assure the overall profitability of each assigned agent.
- Calls, corresponds, and meets with the assigned agency partners in a manner that maintains open communication for holistic agency management.
- Provides outstanding customer service.
- Builds effective working relationships with assigned agency personnel as well as internal company staff.
- Drives acceptable levels of new business opportunities through effective marketing to assigned agents.
- Effectively communicates with assigned agents the appropriate level of information to ensure understanding of company direction.
