- Full training provided and excellent career prospects
- Opportunity to work within an established and supportive team
- Based full-time in the Stratford-upon-Avon head office, moving to 80% homeworking, 20% office-based once trained.
About the role:
We’re looking for a highly organised and detail-focused Assistant Underwriter to join our Large Corporate Insurance (LCI) underwriting team in Stratford-upon-Avon. Our Large Corporate Insurance underwriting function is responsible for underwriting, administering and servicing NFU Mutual's largest clients and most complex risks. This role offers you the opportunity to learn whilst working in a varied role, gaining exposure to underwriting, and developing your internal network with opportunities to make real, long-lasting connections.
Known internally as an LCI Assistant Underwriter, you’ll be responsible for a wide range of varied administrative tasks, which includes supporting the Senior Leadership Team, with travel arrangements, arranging meetings, organising away-day events etc. You’ll also populate spreadsheets with accurate claims data, manage the team inbox, respond to email queries, and handle mid-term adjustment (MTA) activities via our workflow system, along with many other administrative tasks.
This excellent opportunity has arisen due to an internal promotion within the team, which truly reflects the scope for progression offered to our employees. There are lots of opportunities to learn and develop, whether that be into an underwriter role, or transferring your skills to other roles across the division and organisation. Our promise to you is that you will be supported.
This role is based in our Tiddington Head Office, just outside Stratford-Upon-Avon. However, we understand how important a positive work-life balance is to you, so we offer great facilities when you want to be in an office environment and support to work some of your hours from home.
About you:
You’re someone who thrives on detail, takes pride in getting things right, and isn’t afraid to challenge when something doesn’t look quite right. With a natural flair for organisation and a proactive mindset, you’ll be confident juggling multiple tasks and managing your time effectively.
You’ll bring strong Excel skills and a keen eye for data—whether it’s populating claims experience (CCEs) spreadsheets, cross-referencing risk improvement reports, or supporting financial health checks for new and renewing customers. Your communication skills will shine as you develop relationships and liaise with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring paperwork is filed correctly and updates are actioned promptly. You’ll be curious, collaborative, and eager to learn, with a genuine interest in building your career.
If you’ve worked in financial services or a customer service role and you’re ready to bring your skills into a role where you’ll be supported to grow and succeed, we’d love to hear from you.
At NFU Mutual, we support an inclusive workplace and value all the differences that make us unique. We celebrate the creativity and innovation that comes from diverse perspectives and experiences and share a common vision of doing the right thing for our customers and employees.
