International Casualty Unit
Our International Casualty Unit writes Motor, General Liability, Professional Lines and Cyber Treaty business and has a strong and established presence in EMEA, the London Market, APAC and Latam. High emphasis is put on collaboration with colleagues from other units (eg North American Casualty, Lloyd’s Casualty) and functions (Actuarial, Claims and Finance).
The Role
Responsibilities and duties:
Account underwriting: Originating and underwriting of International Casualty Treaty business pursuant to guidelines
Strategy development: Definition of market strategies and business plans
•Portfolio management: Management of portfolio, exposure and risk accumulation control, monitoring of aggregate commitments specific to the portfolio subsegments
Marketing and stakeholder relationship management: Fostering of relationships with brokers and clients including regular travel and client visits
Market monitoring: Tracking of industry trends and analyzing of markets cycles
Team development: Actively contribute to the shaping and development of expertise and best practices within the team
Brand promotion: Positively represent the unit, division and company brand.
Competencies required
Technical requirements:
University degree and at least 10 years of relevant reinsurance underwriting experience
Excellent International Casualty market knowledge
Strong business development skills and commercial acumen
Capability of defining and implementing business plans
Ability to be lead point of contact with brokers / clients
Fluency in English, good command in other languages an advantage
High rigor and work ethics
Ability to manage priorities under pressure and time constraints
Inter-personal requirements:
Strong existing industry network
Demonstrated skills in leading negotiating with counterparties
Ability to foster and maintain client relationships
Strong team player with ability to lead and train more junior colleagues
