Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Tax Accountant to join our corporate tax team at our global headquarters in the SouthPark area of Charlotte, NC. This is a newly created role within a highly acquisitive company, offering excellent growth opportunities and exposure to complex, evolving tax matters. The Senior Tax Accountant will support the preparation of federal and state income tax returns, state apportionment calculations, property tax compliance, and quarterly/annual tax provision reporting. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with various internal departments across the company and work closely with external service providers to ensure accurate and timely tax compliance. Candidates must also be open to leveraging AI-powered tools and technology to enhance efficiency and accuracy in tax processes.
Key Responsibilities
Income Tax Compliance
- Prepare federal and multi-state corporate income tax returns.
- Prepare multi-state apportionment schedules and compliance filings.
- Assist with quarterly and annual estimated tax payment calculations.
- Research and respond to tax notices and assist with tax audits as needed.
Tax Provision (ASC 740)
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual income tax provisions, including deferred tax calculations and supporting schedules.
- Support documentation and workpapers for external auditors.
Property Tax Compliance
- Coordinate and prepare annual property tax listings.
- Ensure timely filing and payment of property tax obligations across jurisdictions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with other internal departments (Finance, Accounting, Legal, IT) to gather data and support compliance.
- Work with outside advisors and external service providers on complex compliance matters, research projects, and tax provision support.
Other Responsibilities
- Maintain organized workpapers and supporting documentation.
- Embrace and effectively use AI and automation tools to improve tax processes.
- Assist with broader process improvements and efficiency initiatives within the tax function.
- Stay current with federal and state tax law changes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- CPA license or progress toward certification preferred.
- 2+ years of tax experience, with public accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of corporate taxation and multi-state tax concepts.
- Familiarity with ASC 740 (tax provision) concepts a plus.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with tax compliance/provision software (e.g., OneSource, CCH Axcess) a plus.
- Openness to working with AI technology and adapting to evolving tax automation practices.
