Position Summary
The Senior Vice President, Underwriting is responsible for leading the underwriting department, developing underwriting policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This role requires extensive experience in underwriting, strong leadership skills, and the ability to make strategic decisions.
What will your job entail?
Job Responsibilities:
· Lead the underwriting department by setting strategic goals, managing resources, and overseeing daily operations.
· Develop and implement underwriting policies and procedures that align with the company’s risk tolerance and business objectives.
· Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards in all underwriting activities.
· Collaborate with other senior leaders to develop business strategies and drive the company’s growth.
· Monitor market trends and adjust underwriting strategies as needed to maintain competitiveness.
· Manage relationships with brokers, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure a high level of service.
· Provide guidance and mentorship to underwriting staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
· Oversee the underwriting of complex risks, providing expertise and making final decisions when necessary.
· Participate in risk management activities, working closely with the risk management team to identify, assess, and mitigate risks.
· Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and other public forums, promoting the company’s underwriting capabilities and services.
Work Experience and Education:
· Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management or Business.
· 18+ years of related experience or similar type role.
· 10+ years of making management decisions.
· Experience in ensuring compliance regulatory requirements and industry standards related to underwriting
· Experience in risk management, including identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks
Licenses & Certifications:
· Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Commerical Underwriting (AU), Associate in Risk Management (ARM) or Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) is preferred

The target salary range for this position is $392,000.00 - $490,000.00 annually.
The wage range for this role considers many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, and market demands. The pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Full-time roles are eligible for bonuses and benefits.
