Job Opportunity
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lawyers Professional Liability underwriter to join our team based in our NY office. We are looking for a hard-working teammate who values collaborative culture and is focused on building a portfolio based on profitability over top-line growth.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Continue to establish BHSI’s presence as a leader in the LPL market
- Establish, develop, and expand broker and customer relationships
- Underwrite complex and challenging risks while developing creative solutions for our partners
- Execute on underwriting strategy focused on profitable growth of the overall portfolio
- Be a positive reflection on the company by demonstrating integrity and leadership in the marketplace
- Effectively communicate BHSI’s value proposition to brokers and customers
- Work closely with our in-house claims team to help create a positive and transparent experience for our customers
- Collaborate with teammates across all product lines
- Up to 30% travel will be required
Qualifications, Skills And Experience
- 5-10 years of experience underwriting Lawyers Professional Liability or other industry related experience
- Strong technical skills in Lawyers Professional Liability
- Experienced marketing to large, specialized brokers
- Proven client development experience
- Collaborative and team-focused mentality
- Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
- BA/BS degree or equivalent experience

The base salary range for this position is $110,000 to $175,000, along with annual bonus eligibility. Total compensation for a candidate is determined by their relevant skills, location, and experience.
