As a Customer Service Rep you will deliver quality service and insurance recommendations to current and prospective Markel customers. This is a combined service and sales role with the expectation that sales vs. service responsibilities will be split based on business needs. All sales leads are provided and there is no outbound cold calling.
Customer Service Reps are required to stay current and knowledgeable of all procedures to ensure department standards and guidelines are meet, which include Schedule Adherence, Quality Assurance, First Contact Resolution, Average Talk Time, Average Handle Time, Average Speed of Answer and Coding
Responsibilities include:
- Work diligently to find resolution to customer concerns and escalate to appropriate level when necessary.
- Convey information efficiently, effectively, and appropriately to meet the needs of the customer.
- Strive for first call resolution to provide “best in class” service.
Qualifications/Skill sets:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
- Dedicated to providing a positive customer experience
- Communicate clearly and professionally over the phone
- Strong technical background/ability to multi-task in several systems at once
- Willingness to learn new material and systems/applications

Requirements:
- This position requires a Property & Casualty Insurance license to be obtained within the first 90 days of hire.
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college is a plus!
- Equine industry preferred
- 1 or more years of prior customer service experience preferred
- Demonstrated job stability and attendance records
- Solid computer, grammar and multi-tasking skills
- Comfort with a high-volume service center.
Primary Functions:
- Handle Equine Mortality, Private Horse Owner Liability, and Commercial Equine Liability inquiries, including phone support, task management, email communication, system navigation, and required documentation.
- Provide backup support for additional Personal Lines products as seasonal demand requires.
- Work in a fast-paced call center environment, managing an average of 30–40 inbound calls per day.
- Perform both sales and service responsibilities in an hourly role, utilizing 1–2 core systems.
Compensation: Starting pay ranges from $20/hour - $23.50/hour based on the candidate's experience, education.
*In addition to regular hourly pay, there is an annual Performance Bonus Potential.

Must have Property & Casualty license to work remote outside of Markel office locations. Markel locations are Pewaukee, WI., Omaha, NE., Glen Allen VA., Henderson NV. If located near Markel office location, Hybrid work schedule is required.
P&C License must be: 220 License (General Lines Agent License) (Florida Only):
This is the most comprehensive license for P&C insurance. It allows agents to sell and manage a wide range of insurance products, including commercial and personal property and casualty insurance. This license is ideal for those selling commercial P&C insurance.
