Job Purpose (Advert wording) |
We are seeking a highly experienced FP&A professional to join our finance team at a growing Managing General Agent (MGA). This role will be a key support to executive leadership and Senior Finance Business Partner, with ownership of enterprise financial modelling, long-range planning, and performance analytics. The ideal candidate has some insurance or MGA experience (however, not critical), is fluent in three-statement financial modelling, and has successfully managed multi-year planning cycles in complex, growth-oriented environments. |
Key Responsibilities: |
Financial Planning & Analysis - Lead the annual budget, rolling forecast, and multi-year strategic planning processes (5-year horizon)
- Build, maintain, and enhance financial models
- Translate underwriting, premium, commission, and technical fee assumptions into cohesive financial forecasts
- Develop scenario, sensitivity, and stress-test analyses to support strategic decision-making
MGA / Insurance-Specific Analytics - Partner closely with Senior Finance Business Partner to model and maintain:
- Premium growth, mix, and technical fee pricing
- Expenses/Margin
- Maintain visibility of business’s cost to serve and unit economics.
- Analyse performance by entity, line of business, and sub-P&L
- Support cash flow and working capital planning in alignment with insurance operations
Executive & Stakeholder Support - Aid preparation of executive-level reporting and board materials, including to Group (US HSB and Munich Re).
- Serve as a trusted financial advisor to senior leadership, providing clear insights and recommendations
- Support strategic initiatives including new program launches, geographic expansion, and risk-carrier negotiations
Forecasting, Controls & Process Improvement - Own forecasting accuracy and continuously improve planning methodologies
- Enhance financial models and reporting tools to improve scalability and transparency
- Establish and document FP&A best practices, controls, and planning cadence

Skills & Experience |
Experience - 4-5 years of progressive FP&A experience
- Direct experience in insurance, MGA, reinsurer, specialty finance, or similar regulated financial services environment preferred
- Demonstrated ownership of multi-year financial planning cycles
- Proven ability to build and maintain robust three-statement financial models from scratch
Technical Skills - Expert-level Excel / financial modelling skills
- Strong understanding of:
- Accrual accounting
- Cash flow mechanics
- Balance sheet drivers within long tail revenue recognition business
- Experience with FP&A systems (Adaptive, Anaplan, Hyperion, or similar) a plus
- Ability to synthesize large datasets into actionable insights
Business & Leadership Skills - Strong presence and communication skills
- Ability to operate independently with minimal oversight
- Comfortable in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment
- Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and accountability

Qualifications and Educational Requirements: |
Education - Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
- ACCA/CIMA/ACA qualification
