Position Summary
Ryan Specialty Underwriting Managers (RSUM) is seeking a strategic and execution-focused Senior Vice President of Data and AA/AI Enablement (Advanced Analytics/Artificial Intelligence) to lead the global transformation of RSUM data into a competitive advantage for our underwriting platform (product insights/innovation, underwriting results, scale efficiencies, etc.). Strategically this position will oversee RSUM (including RSUMI) data governance, architecture, and enabling tools to support AA/AI. Operationally this role will oversee historical data migration/consolidation to the EDH, standard MGU operational reporting, BDX operations, and acquisition integration data workstreams. Our goal is to consolidate our data onto common product/domain models, enforce data mastery and quality, and reduce data wrangling efforts of our analytical staff. Direct metrics will include operational efficiency of our analytics, BDX/capital reporting quality, and on time delivery of capabilities.
What will your job entail?
Data Strategy for Underwriting Performance
Develop and execute an enterprise data strategy that supports underwriting discipline, portfolio insight, and consistency of data across Business Units of key data domains.
Oversee development of product and key domain data models.
Manage data investment CBA’s
Data Governance & Data Quality
Manage our governance framework ensuring accurate, complete, and consistent data across submissions, quotes, binders, claims, and policy administration.
Establish stewardship models to enhance underwriting data quality/mastery at the source.
Ensure compliance with industry regulations, privacy requirements, and internal standards
Ensure ethical and transparent AI practices for underwriting‑related decision support.
Data Engineering & Architecture
Oversee the requirements and delivery of data pipelines to migrate data from legacy platforms to the EDH.
Oversee transition of management reporting from the “data layer” to EDH
Oversee the requirements and delivery of BDX and operational reporting.
Oversee the data integration of acquired businesses into the RSUM architecture
Analytics, AI & Underwriting Insights
Understand current and future business intelligence/AI needs to better serve our brokers, capital partners, and internal analytics teams.
Select and sponsor implementation of data, BI and analytics tools to support these needs.
Cross-Functional Partnership & Leadership
Interface with EDH, Data & Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, DMGU, C1 COE, and other IT teams to achieve data workstream delivery on time and on budget
Work with corporate functions to create an environment where our practitioners can practice instead of navigating corporate accesses and permissions.
Collaborate with program administrators, underwriting leaders, operations, finance, and technology teams to align data priorities with business goals.
Build and mentor a team spanning data governance, data engineering, analytics, and data science.
Work Experience and Education:
12+ years of experience in data governance, engineering, analytics, or data strategy—with experience supporting underwriting or insurance preferred.
Strong understanding of insurance data, underwriting workflows, and portfolio analytics.
Expertise in cloud data platforms, modern data architectures, and advanced analytics/AI.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration capabilities.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Improvements in consistency and accuracy of submission, policy, and claims data.
Reduction in data-related underwriting issues and rework.
Adoption of governance standards across RSUM platforms.

Licenses & Certifications:
· Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Commercial Underwriting (AU), Associate in Personal Insurance (API), Associated in Risk Management (ARM) or Certified Professional in Insurance and Risk Management (CPIRM) is preferred

The target salary range for this position is $272,000.00 - $340,000.00 annually.
The wage range for this role considers many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, and market demands. The pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Full-time roles are eligible for bonuses and benefits.
