Job Description
Sompo has a unique opportunity for an FCIC & Escrow Reconciliation Analyst in our Finance Department.
This position is responsible for the daily and monthly reconciliation of escrow and loss accounts associated with the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation (FCIC), ensuring all activity is recorded accurately and in compliance with requirements established by the Risk Management Agency (RMA) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The role provides critical support to the Financial Reporting and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) teams by producing reliable reconciliations, cash activity support, and regulatory data used for month end close, financial statements, forecasting, and variance analysis. Responsibilities include oversight and execution of key banking and payment controls such as positive pay administration, ACH file uploads, and regulatory reporting, as well as responding to audit and compliance inquiries. The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to meet strict deadlines, and close collaboration with accounting, compliance, treasury, and operations teams to maintain financial accuracy, transparency, and control integrity.

What you’ll be doing:
Perform daily and monthly reconciliations of FCIC escrow and loss accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with federal crop insurance requirements.
Leverage AI enabled tools to assist with identifying anomalies, trends, and recurring reconciling items within FCIC escrow, loss accounts, and related RMA reports, improving accuracy and timeliness of reconciliations while maintaining human review and control.
Investigate, document, and resolve reconciling items, escalating issues as appropriate.
Maintain reconciliation support and audit ready documentation.
Upload daily positive pay files to the bank and review, research, and resolve any exceptions.
Upload ACH files for claim payments and commission payments in accordance with established controls and timelines.
Coordinate with internal stakeholders and banking partners to resolve payment or file issues.
Assist with reconciliations to RMA reports, including identifying and researching variances.
Support validation and submission of IRS 1099 forms, including data review, issue resolution, and coordination with internal and external partners.
Ensure adherence to internal controls, compliance standards, and regulatory deadlines.
Provide internal and external customer service via phone and email related to payments, reconciliations, and reporting questions.
Respond to inquiries in a professional, timely, and service oriented manner.
Support process improvement initiatives by identifying recurring issues or inefficiencies.
Various other duties, as assigned.
What you’ll bring:
Finance or Accounting degree or similar related field is required.
Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting, financial operations, reconciliations, or banking support preferred.
Advanced MS Excel skills.
Crop Insurance experience or Agricultural Background.
Previous track record of implementing technological efficiencies in the finance and accounting realm preferred.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to perform complex functions.
Communicate clearly, openly, and effectively with internal and external customers both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated interest in or experience using AI enabled tools to enhance analysis, documentation, or process efficiency in a controlled and compliant environment.
Demonstrated ability to work cross functionally on identifying process efficiencies and cost saving opportunities.
