Operational Accounts Assistant (12 month maternity Cover - Fixed Term)

The Role
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our operational accounts team on a maternity cover basis.
In this role, you will help ensure the smooth running of day-to-day financial operations, including processing payments, managing invoices, and reconciling client accounts. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities of the Operational Accounts Assistant
- Manage daily and monthly finance tasks and workflows
- Process GBP and foreign payments, resolving any queries or compliance issues
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank and float reconciliations, investigating discrepancies
- Process purchase invoices from suppliers in a timely manner
- Raise and process ad hoc sales invoices
- Process timesheets and expenses for doctors and nurses
- Send sales invoices and payment remittances to clients and providers
- Complete month-end and other ad hoc finance tasks
- Respond to internal and external queries via email and phone
- Prepare and investigate weekly and monthly reports for stakeholders
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, professionalism, and confidentiality
What we are looking for in the Operational Accounts Assistant
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade A-C or equivalent) - Essential
- Accountancy qualification (or studying towards one) - Desirable
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confident and professional telephone manner
- At least 1 year's experience in an accounting or finance environment
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Able to manage workload independently and as part of a team
- Flexible and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Trustworthy, discreet, and able to handle confidential information
