The Chief of Staff to the Group COO is the COO’s strategic partner, ensuring alignment, disciplined execution, and smooth delivery across AXIS’s top enterprise priorities—including Data & Analytics, Business Technology Solutions, AI, Transformation, and Global Operations & Underwriting Support. The role turns strategy into coordinated action, connects technology and operations with business needs, and ensures the COO’s agenda produces measurable results.
Responsibilities
• Advise and partner with the COO and leaders across D&A, BTS, AI, Transformation, and Global Operations.
• Coordinate and prioritize the COO’s enterprise agenda, ensuring focus on the initiatives that matter most.
• Identify risks, interdependencies, and bottlenecks early and drive resolution across teams.
• Maintain a full enterprise view of cross functional impacts—capacity, cost, risk, and change management.
• Support a high performance culture, including operating model alignment and prioritization.
• Develop and track KPIs, reporting, and progress against strategic objectives.
• Partner with Finance on spend, benefits realization, and efficiency initiatives.
• Prepare all executive and board level materials for the COO with consistent, clear messaging.
• Translate technical topics (AI, data, automation) into clear business implications.
• Partner with HR on organization design, talent needs, and skills for an AI driven environment.
• Maintain strong governance and decision routines; manage escalations when needed.
• Support communication, execution, and coordination of all COO initiatives.
Positioning & Authority
• Reports directly to the Group COO.
• Acts as the COO’s delegate on priorities, sequencing, and escalation decisions.
• Serves as the central coordination point across all COO aligned functions.
• Can request alignment shifts, sequencing changes, or pauses when capacity or priorities require it.
About You
• Strong executive presence and judgment in complex, high stakes situations.
• Ability to challenge priorities and tradeoffs constructively.
• Experience working within regulated, multi jurisdictional environments.
• Background in operations, strategy, transformation, or technology enabled change (ideally in insurance or financial services).
• Skilled at influencing without authority and coordinating complex, cross functional work.
• Strong communication, analytical thinking, and problem solving skills.
• Able to create polished, compelling executive level presentations.
• Practical, collaborative, and solution oriented.

For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of $225,000.00 to $275,000.00. Your salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including your specific experience and work location.
In addition, you will be offered competitive target incentive compensation, with awards based on overall corporate and individual performance.
