Reporting into the Sr Manager, Technology, Cyber and Professional Lines (TC PL), the role will serve to support the Tech Cyber & Professional Liability team in the administration, analysis, and governance of delegated authority (Broker and MGA program) business. This role contributes to the consistent execution of Sovereign’s underwriting and governance framework by assisting with program referrals, underwriting review, and audit activities. This role works under close supervision of senior members from the Tech Cyber and Professional Liability team members and management to ensure program submissions, audits, and performance reporting are completed accurately and in alignment with underwriting standards and corporate risk appetite. Judgement is exercised within defined guidelines and procedures, with supervisory support provided where uncertainty exists.
How you will create impact:
- Assess risk factors in market conditions to determine appropriate premium rates for programs. Utilized actuarial tools, historical data, and market insights to establish competitive pricing while ensuring profitability and effective risk management.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of the broker and MGA program portfolio, including policy retention, loss ratios, and profitability, implementing risk mitigation strategies to optimize results.
- Provide underwriting support for existing and new programs, including underwriting audits, risk referrals, wording and pricing reviews, and due diligence to maintain profitable and compliant relationships.
- Collaborate with Senior Underwriters to review underwriting methodologies, guidelines, processes, and pricing structures to ensure alignment and business objectives and market conditions.
- Leverage data and analytics to foster a deeper understanding of broker and partner performance, enhancing risks selection portfolio management and client solutions.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends competitive landscape and new business opportunities within the program space provide insights and recommendations for product development and enhancement.
- Build and maintain strong relationship with brokers MGA's and internal partners including claims actuarial legal and compliance to ensure effective collaboration and timely resolution of underwriting matters
- support the development of underwriting frameworks guidelines and documentation while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and contributing to corporate goals related to profitability and premium growth
To join our team:
- Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) Designation is an asset.
- 1-2 years of insurance industry experience preferred but not required.
- Superior oral and written communication skills and the ability to deliver presentations and communicate ideas clearly.
- Proficiency in both English and French is essential to the main duties in this role, including servicing and communicating primarily with majority anglophone and francophone clients, groups, and teams. The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.

Salary information
Expected salary range $50,280 to $83,800
Salary placement
“The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.”
Incentive/Variable pay
