JOB DESCRIPTION
The IT division delivers the Technology and Services that enable the Canopius Group to achieve its strategic and business goals.
The Technology team is on a journey to provide a flexible and iterative software delivery function to all areas of the business – allowing us to respond quickly and innovatively to internal user requirements and therefore provide external market advantage.
As a Developer, you will collaborate with business units to understand their challenges and work with delivery teams to design and build scalable solutions.
In addition to hands-on development, you will help ensure solutions move safely through development, testing and release by applying agreed application lifecycle management (ALM), environment and governance practices.
Responsibilities
Res ponsibilities will include :
Core Development Responsibilities
- Build and optimise enterprise ‑ scale model ‑ driven applications including complex Dataverse tables, business rules, forms, views, and security structures.
- Develop and maintain Dataverse customisations, including calculated/rollup fields, business process flows, workflows, and plug ‑ ins .
- Implement robust, scalable data models and ensure high performance through optimisation techniques and solution refactoring.
- Work closely with architects and senior engineers to ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture and integrate effectively with downstream systems.
- Support and enhance existing solutions, troubleshooting issues and continuously improving performance and usability.
Application Lifecycle Management, Environments and Release
- Apply agreed ALM practices across development, test and production environments.
- Support reliable releases by using automated deployment pipelines, validation checks and change controls.
Power Platform Governance & Centre of Excellence ( CoE )
- Contribute to CoE standards that promote secure, consistent and maintainable Power Platform delivery.
- Help manage risks relating to security, licensing, data usage and platform scalability.
- Encourage reuse through shared components, templates and delivery patterns.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Work with business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into scalable, maintainable solutions.
- Contribute to design reviews, architecture discussions, and governance forums.
- Share good practice with junior developers, particularly around maintainability, testing and release readiness.
Qualifications
Skills and Experience
- Solid understanding of .NET, .NET Core and C#.
- Familiarity with Object Orientated programming concepts e.g. SOLID, and software design patterns.
- Solid understanding of consuming API technologies with knowledge of RESTful services.
- Relevant experience of database design and development (Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL).
- Solid understanding of web development - JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, with libraries/frameworks such as React, Blazor and MVC.
- Knowledge of automated test strategies and unit tests.
- Adherence to coding standards and industry best practice.
