This role is responsible for driving the identification, development, and execution of Catastrophic (CAT) risk transfer opportunities across claims. The individual will serve as the central point of coordination between claims, clients/carriers, and external vendor partners related to Catastrophic claims, ensuring strong pipeline development, effective conversion to contracts, and continuous improvement of processes and outcomes. This role blends strategic relationship management, operational execution, analytics, and vendor oversight.
Pipeline Development & Clinical Partnership
- Partner closely with CAT triage nurses and Claims teams to proactively identify claims with CAT risk transfer potential and build a robust funnel of opportunities
- Lead initiatives to enhance early identification of qualifying claims, including process improvements related to claim handling and bill review integration
Client & Carrier Engagement
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, carriers, and internal stakeholders on CAT risk transfer solutions
- Clearly articulate the value proposition of CAT risk transfer and vendor partner offerings, tailoring messaging to client-specific needs to drive referral approval
- Act as the primary point of contact for all CAT risk transfer product-related communication
Product Expertise & Vendor Partnership
- Develop deep expertise in the vendor partner's CAT risk transfer solutions and serve as the internal subject matter expert (SME)
- Manage and oversee the vendor relationship with vendor partner, ensuring alignment on performance, service delivery, and strategic objectives
Performance Analytics & Reporting
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators, including referral volume, conversion rates, and overall funnel effectiveness
- Analyze trends and provide actionable insights to leadership to improve outcomes and drive growth
Barrier Identification & Market Feedback
- Assess and track reasons for client/carrier resistance to CAT risk transfer adoption and provide structured feedback to vendor partner
- Analyze referral fallout and conversion gaps, developing strategies and solutions to overcome barriers
- Collaborate cross-functionally to pilot and implement process or value proposition enhancements
Operational Execution & Process Improvement
- Partner with Claims Operations to improve processes related to invoicing and collections, including resolution of overdue invoices and establishment of scalable workflows
- Lead initiatives to optimize claim handling processes to better support CAT risk transfer opportunities (including bill handling considerations)
Requirements
- 7–10+ years of experience in claims, managed care, risk transfer, or complex medical case management (workers’ compensation or similar preferred)
- Strong understanding of catastrophic claims, cost drivers, and risk transfer mechanisms
- Demonstrated ability to influence clients/carriers and drive adoption of strategic solutions
- Experience managing external vendors and strategic partnerships
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with experience tracking and interpreting operational metrics
- Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills
