Ready to take a lead in Financial Lines underwriting?
We're looking for an experienced Senior Underwriter to join our Financial Lines team in Melbourne. This role will see you take ownership of a portfolio, drive profitable growth, build strong broker relationships and provide technical guidance to junior underwriters while contributing to the continued success of the business.
About the role:
Reporting to the National Manager, Financial Lines, you'll play a key role in developing and managing a profitable Financial Lines portfolio. You'll work closely with brokers to identify and convert new business opportunities, oversee renewals, make underwriting decisions within authority and support the development of junior members of the team.

Key Responsibilities
· Develop and grow a profitable Financial Lines portfolio.
· Identify and convert new business opportunities through existing and prospective broker relationships.
· Underwrite risks within delegated authority.
· Manage and monitor portfolio performance to achieve growth and profitability targets.
· Review and assess underwriting referrals from junior team members.
· Support business development and marketing initiatives.
· Build and maintain strong broker relationships through exceptional service and market engagement.
· Provide technical guidance, mentoring and support to junior underwriters.
· Stay informed of market trends, industry developments and regulatory requirements.
· Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines, insurer requirements and company policies.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
· At least 5 years' underwriting experience, including exposure to complex risks and decision making.
· Strong knowledge of Financial Lines products and the broader insurance market.
· A proven ability to develop and maintain broker relationships.
· Strong analytical and risk assessment skills.
· Excellent communication and customer service skills.
· A proactive, accountable and solutions-focused approach.
· Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
· ASIC PS146 Tier 1 qualification or equivalent.
