DWF is seeking a Junior Litigation Associate (2 – 4 years’ call) to join our growing Calgary office. This position is ideal for a lawyer who is looking to accelerate their development as a litigator. You will work directly with experienced counsel, receive hands‑on mentorship and take on increasing responsibility for your own files as your experience grows.

Responsibilities
As a member of our Alberta litigation team, you will:
- Manage and contribute to a variety of insurance defence and civil litigation matters
- Draft pleadings, briefs, applications, opinions and other litigation materials
- Conduct legal research and provide strategic recommendations
- Assist with and, as experience permits, conduct questionings, mediations, and chambers applications
- Contribute to the strategic management of complex and high‑profile matters
- Deliver exceptional client service standards through effective communication and file management
- Participate in professional development and business development activities that support practice growth
What will help you succeed in this role?
We are looking for a lawyer who brings:
- 2–4 years of post‑call civil litigation experience
- Experience in insurance defence litigation is preferred; candidates with strong civil litigation experience from other practice areas are encouraged to apply
- Familiarity with the Alberta Rules of Court and litigation procedures
- Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills
- Sound professional judgment and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal
- Strong organizational skills and time management abilities
- A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional client service
