About the Role
The Sales Team Lead is a key leadership role responsible for driving individual insurance sales performance, optimizing client engagement strategies, and mentoring a team of frontline sales professionals. This role supports the Vice President in fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture, delivering strategic initiatives, and enhancing operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of personal risk insurance, a passion for coaching, and a commitment to delivering exceptional client outcomes.
What You’ll Do
- Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and coach a team of personal insurance sales professionals, ensuring alignment with performance goals and service standards.
- Establish and monitor important metrics to assess individual and team effectiveness.
- Facilitate regular training sessions focused on sales techniques, product knowledge, and integrated selling strategies.
- Drive Coaching, Accountability, and Recognition initiatives to foster a high-performance culture.
- Deliver mid-year and annual performance reviews to support employee development and goal alignment.
- Sales Optimization
- Analyze sales data and client feedback to refine outreach strategies and improve conversion rates.
- Collaborate with business development, marketing and operations to develop targeted campaigns and tools that support sales efforts.
- Identify and address underperforming areas, recommending corrective actions as needed.
- Client Engagement & Relationship Management
- Champion a client-first approach, ensuring personalized service and proactive communication.
- Support the development of outreach programs for existing and prospective clients.
- Serve as a point of escalation for complex client inquiries and service issues.
- Integrated Selling & Collaboration
- Promote cross-functional collaboration to identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities within the personal risk portfolio.
- Partner with other business units to leverage shared client relationships and drive holistic insurance solutions.
- Strategic Planning & Reporting
- Contribute to the development of sales plans aligned with departmental growth objectives.
- Prepare regular reports on team performance, market trends, and strategic recommendations for leadership review.
What You Bring
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in personal insurance.
- Experience in sales with the ability to lead client acquisition strategies by exceeding sales target.
- Proven leadership experience with a track record of coaching, developing and mentoring team members in a high-performing environment.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Salesforce, Excel, and reporting tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of individuals.
- In-office presence is considered an asset for team collaboration and engagement.
- Alberta licensed
