As a Technology Intern, you will join the technology team building BHSI’s next-generation small commercial insurance platform, a modern, cloud-based technology stack that will shape how we serve brokers and customers for years to come. During this 12-week paid internship, you will work as an active member of an agile scrum team, contributing to software engineering and quality engineering work under the guidance of experienced engineers. You will see how modern software is designed, built, tested, and delivered, learn how technology supports the insurance lifecycle from quote to policy, and help explore how AI can accelerate the way we build software.

Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and curious individual to join our Boston office with the Technology team as a Summer Intern. This 12-week paid internship offers a deep dive into the world of Technology.
You Will
- Participate as a member of an agile scrum team, including sprint planning, daily standups, reviews, and retrospectives
- Design, build, test, and document software solutions across the platform, such as integrations, APIs, automation, and internal tools, with guidance from experienced engineers
- Develop and execute test cases, and contribute to automated testing that improves quality and speed of delivery
- Investigate, reproduce, and troubleshoot defects, and help identify root causes
- Use AI-assisted development and testing tools to accelerate your work, and share what you learn with the team
- Take ownership of assigned work items and follow them through to completion
- Communicate progress, questions, and blockers clearly with teammates and stakeholders
- Present your work and learnings to the team and technology leadership at the end of the internship

Qualifications
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Hands-on coding experience through coursework, personal projects, hackathons, or prior internships
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle, including how software is designed, built, tested, and delivered
- Experience with, or strong interest in, using AI tools to accelerate software development and testing
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
- Curiosity and eagerness to learn new technologies and the insurance business
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Pay Transparency
The base salary range for this position in Boston is from $25/hour - $28/hour; a candidate’s salary is determined by their relevant skills and experience. We value our teammates – both their capabilities and character – as demonstrated by our amazing culture.
