Job Opportunity
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Director, Technology to join our Policy Technology team in Boston. This role has responsibilities for managing the production support stream of work for our Duck Creek policy administration system and will include people management responsibilities over time. We are seeking a self-directed hands-on leader to manage a high volume of incident & enhancement tickets and oversee resources both onshore and offshore. The ideal candidate will combine a process ownership mindset with developer expertise, be able to lead and mentor within a collaborative team setting and thrive in an environment that demands individual accountability.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations and maintenance of the Duck Creek policy administration system including incident response.
- Manage and mentor a team of technical and functional resources, ensuring effective collaboration and performance.
- Coordinate with onshore and offshore teams to ensure seamless project execution and delivery.
- Develop and implement strategies for system enhancements and improvements.
- Ensure adherence to SDLC delivery models and best practices.
- Have in depth knowledge of items in ticketing systems and be accountable for metrics around activities and processes.
- Engage in negotiations of scoping priorities and resource allocation with IT & business stakeholders.
- Monitor system performance and address any issues or challenges promptly and consistently.
- Monitor the effectiveness of processes and seek ways to continuously improve them.
- Work closely with the application architecture.
Qualifications, Skills And Experience
- At least 7 years of leading technical teams in an insurance domain and 15 years of overall relevant experience required.
- Proven experience in managing technical teams, both onshore and offshore.
- Strong technical understanding of the Duck Creek or similar policy administration system.
- Ability to grasp the implications of multiple P&C insurance projects on a global scale, identifying patterns for consolidation or separation based on technical risks.
- Flexible and open to learn from different groups and perspectives.
- Proficiency in various SDLC delivery models.
- Excellent leadership and team mentoring skills for technical resources.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to think strategically required.

The base salary range for this position in Boston, MA is $155,000 to $190,000, along with annual bonus eligibility. Total compensation for a candidate is determined by their relevant skills, location, and experience.
