Position Summary
As the Senior Vice President and Head of Underwriting, you will lead our underwriting department, driving the strategic vision and operational execution of underwriting policies and procedures. You will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of our risk management framework while fostering innovation and efficiency within the team.
What will your job entail?
Job Responsibilities:
• Craft and execute underwriting strategies that align with the company’s risk appetite and financial objectives.
• Oversee the assessment and mitigation of risks associated with policy underwriting to ensure a balanced portfolio.
• Ensure all underwriting activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing underwriting team, setting clear performance standards and accountability.
• Champion the use of innovative tools and practices to enhance the underwriting process and improve decision-making.
• Utilize data analytics to identify trends, forecast risks, and inform underwriting decisions.
• Collaborate with senior management, actuaries, and other stakeholders to align underwriting practices with broader business goals.
• Monitor and manage the underwriting portfolio to optimize profitability and growth.
• Continuously evaluate and refine underwriting processes for greater efficiency and effectiveness.
• Stay alongside industry changes, emerging risks, and competitive landscape to adjust underwriting practices proactively.
Work Experience and Education:
· Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management or Business with 18+ years of related experience.
· 10+ years of management experience
· Prior management experience with increasing responsibility in a risk management or similar role is often necessary
· Successful demonstrations during previous experience going outside an underwriting manual, using creative strategies to advance the practice of underwriting
Licenses & Certifications:
· Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Commercial Underwriting (AU), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Assoicate in Personal Insurance (API) or Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) is preferred

The target salary range for this position is $160,000.00 - $200,000.00 annually.
The wage range for this role considers many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, and market demands. The pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Full-time roles are eligible for bonuses and benefits.
