Convex Reinsurance writes International Casualty Treaty Reinsurance business for a worldwide client base across a wide variety of geographic regions outside the US, on a proportional and non-proportional basis. Our offering comprises a broad suite of products including public and products liability, professional lines, motor, workers’ compensation and employers’ liability. Our focus is on building strong partnerships that bring lasting benefits to our clients.
As an Underwriter, you will service portfolios for clients domiciled outside the US. This includes maintaining our renewal book as well as developing new business and cultivating client and broker relationships. You’ll report to the Product Head and collaborate closely with a wide range of stakeholders across the business. This role offers a clear career path.
Key Responsibilities
- Service our renewal book;
o Analyse and assess submissions, negotiate terms
o Liaise with our portfolio analytics team
o Review contract wordings
o Attend to special acceptances and endorsements
- Attend client visits, market conferences and team off-sites
- Assist in developing marketing plans including identifying and pursuing growth opportunities
- Work collaboratively across functions and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure adherence within the team to the legal and regulatory framework
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- Prior experience within Reinsurance Underwriting. Ideally you already have underwriting authority, however we welcome and consider applications of talented Assistant Underwriters
- Good product knowledge across all lines of casualty and most importantly a curiosity to learn and keep up to date regarding legal and product developments
- Language skills would be of benefit
- Ability to work autonomously and make decisions
