Job Description
The Underwriting Associate is responsible for supporting the underwriting process within the Major Accounts Property group. This position is accountable for collaborating with underwriters to achieve growth, profit, renewal retention and service objectives for a specific book of business. The Underwriting Associate will prepare renewal information for review by the underwriter and translate data into policy registration and issuance instructions or at times performing data entry tasks. Working closely with operations and underwriting leadership the Underwriting Associate will ensure the achievement of contract certainty, premium registration and underwriting file upload objectives.
Qualifications
- Associates Degree or equivalent.
- Minimum 1-2 years relevant experience within the Property and Casualty space.
- Knowledge and understanding of Property and Casualty insurance principles and practices a plus.
- Excellent computer skills - Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Microsoft Excel, Outlook.
- Understanding and experience with administrative and clerical procedures including managing electronic files, data, and records.
- Exceptional understanding of principles and processes for providing excellent customer service. This includes meeting established time and quality standards ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Capability to work independently and within a team/group environment.
- Takes ownership and accountability for one’s own work product – commitment to quality.
- Must be able to function effectively and efficiently in a time sensitive and high volume environment.
- Demonstrated success working collaboratively in a matrix environment.
- Ability to establish priorities, coordinate and monitor personal work plan while maintaining status and oversight of multiple submissions and renewals.
- Ability to quickly adapt to changing environments.
- Outstanding attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven analytical skills including the ability to identify and report problems or errors while working with significant amounts of detailed information.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with internal and external resources in a multi-cultural environment.
