Job Description
The Director, Business Development, working closely with the BD team and the underwriting, will be responsible to develop and execute on the organization’s strategy for profitable revenue growth and improved client engagement. This role will encompass both a deep analysis of existing clients at the executive level, along with the development of selectively adding to our client / partner portfolio.
What you will do:
- Work collaboratively with the various business leaders and underwriters in growing their respective lines of business (LOB)
- Deliver and sell Crum & Forster’s value proposition to targeted program managers, TPA’s, reinsurance companies and intermediaries, agents and brokers, while building a significant production network by developing strong partner/producer relationships
- Prospect to C-suite in new markets/verticals (e.g., Insurtech, Fintech, Membership Organizations, Affinity/Associations) and direct (B2B/B2B2C) to uncover new business opportunities
- Understand and be able to clearly communicate to program managers, TPA’s, reinsurance companies and intermediaries, agents and brokers, all A&H insurance product offerings, risk appetite, underwriting guidelines and submission process
- Source new business leads through LinkedIn, trade associations, conference attendance and other networking events
- Work closely with Marketing and Communications team to ensure brand and messaging objectives, collateral, presentations and other communications are current and accurate
- Develop and enhance key executive relationships within existing clients, broker partners and reinsurance intermediaries
- Educate existing clients and channel partners (brokers & intermediaries) on the full extent of our product and service offerings, and posit these products effectively with the appropriate decision makers
- Be the face of the organization and go to individual with key client decision makers and channel partners
- Effectively prospect and evaluate new production sources and underwriting opportunities
- Execute new business sales and marketing strategies
- Manage & attend key industry conferences, including pre and post follow up (ROI assessment)
- Coach and direct Business Development Associates
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university preferred
- Insurance or financial services experience required
- 10+ years of related work experience in accident and health products preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Ability to travel 30%

Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $91,000.00 to a maximum of $171,100.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
