We have an exciting opportunity available in our
Property and Motor department. As an
Underwriter, you will report to the Head of Open Market Property and support the Departmental Head in all underwriting and reinsurance tasks. Your role will be to provide customer-focused products and maximize profitability, always balancing risk and return.
Key Responsibilities:
- Underwriting: Follow the Departmental Heads' instructions on premiums, terms, and conditions to achieve planned underwriting profits in line with the Business Plan.
- Relationship Building: Develop strong broker and client relationships in line with the Department’s strategy.
- Business Planning: Understand and implement the Department’s strategy and objectives.
- Risk Management: Understand the Company’s risk appetites, including business plans, conduct, capital allocation, and catastrophe exposures.
- Compliance: Adhere to underwriting guidelines for line size and aggregate exposures.
What We Expect:
- Financial Acumen: Have or develop an understanding of insurance company financial metrics and how our Business Plan fits within the Company’s overall results.
- Innovation: Develop new insurance products and distribution channels that meet market demand and drive profitability.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Claims Department to understand loss trends and respond to customer needs.
- Customer Focus: Ensure fair treatment of all customers while delivering on the Business Plan.
About You:
- Experience: Proven Open Market Property underwriting experience.
- Qualifications: ACII qualified or working towards it.
- Industry Knowledge: Up-to-date on compliance, regulatory issues, and industry developments.
- Skills: Strong market relationships, meticulous, organized, self-starting, energetic, and hard-working.
- Team Player: Able to support colleagues and take ownership of customer issues in a high-pressure environment.
