What will your job entail?
About the Role:
This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to be a part of fun, fast-paced, growing and agile team, assisting in the continued development and deployment of the Underwriting Compliance function within RSUM (Ryan Specialty Underwriting Managers).
Responsibilities:
- Perform risk-based quality reviews of Financial Lines managing general underwriters’ (MGUs) policies to determine compliance of underwriting guidelines provided by capital partners
- Assist in the management of quality review planning, including the continual refinement of quality review processes and staff assignments/logistics
- Validate that the Financial Lines MGU’s are abiding by the terms of contractual agreements and underwriting guidelines, confirming that delegated underwriting authority limits have not been breached
- Ensure policy files meet minimum compliance standards and work with management to address deficiencies in order to maintain best practices
- Contribute to the success of the underwriting quality review team by effectively executing the required quality reviews and compliance activities
- Assist in the creation of executive reports that summarize findings and recommendations to be distributed to Financial Lines MGU leadership and divisional senior management
- Draft communications to business partners that review and highlight issues found from UW compliance reviews
- Assist in the development and population of a tracking tool to make sure quality review recommendations and findings are being monitored for completion
- Monitor and report on the status of historical quality review findings, making sure findings have been corrected and procedures have been implemented to mitigate quality issues going forward
- Familiarize yourself with processes and procedures of other internal teams to make sure quality reviews are being conducted with these processes and procedures in mind.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 5+ years of relevant Financial Lines underwriting/insurance experience preferred
- Exposure to Quality Assurance and/or Internal Audit disciplines desired
- Insurance-related field or professional insurance designations (CPCU, AAI, CIC, ARM) preferred
- Previous experience as a lead in a functional area, managing cross functional teams or supervisory experience
- Demonstrated ability in successfully identifying and implementing process improvements
- Works autonomously and is objective and rigorous in their approach
- Has effective communication skills (both oral and written, including formal report writing)
- Analytical thinker with strong business acumen who is also results oriented and pragmatic
- Initiative-taking, self-motivated, and works well in a team environment and excels independently
- Proficient in Microsoft suite of products (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)

The target salary range for this position is $106,590.00 - $120,000.00 annually.
The wage range for this role considers many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, and market demands. The pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Full-time roles are eligible for bonuses and benefits.
