Starr Insurance is looking for an experienced investment controller to support global investment reporting and operations. This newly created position will report to the Director of Investment Operations and is based out of Starr’s New York office.
Responsibilities
- In this position, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely reporting of the investment portfolios, including compliance with new statutory reporting requirements.
- Play an integral role in maintaining our third-party investment accounting software. Requires ongoing collaboration with the accounting software’s servicing team in addition to custodian banks, third-party asset managers, and data service providers.
- Detail review periodic portfolio reports, performance attribution, financial statements, and other related deliverables for management. Ability to draw on investment products expertise to identify and correct any reference data errors/inconsistencies.
- Collaborate with various departments, including finance, legal, risk management, and treasury for ad hoc projects.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy of investment accounting and reporting.
- Train and mentor junior team members and provide guidance on complex investment accounting and reporting issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance (required)
- Experience with Clearwater Analytics reporting platform a plus
- 5+ years of investment accounting experience at either public accounting firm and/or in industry.
- Insurance company experience a plus, but not required.
- In-depth knowledge of fixed income securities, including structured products.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office software packages (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in New York, Starr Insurance Companies is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets: experience and training: licensure and certifications: and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $140,000-$180,000
