Tax Liability Underwriter
DUAL North America, Inc. is seeking a dynamic and experienced Tax underwriter to lead the expansion and execution of our tax liability underwriting practice.
As part of a fast-growing and entrepreneurial Managing General Agent (MGA), you will be responsible for underwriting tax insurance policies in North America. You will also play a key strategic role in shaping the underwriting framework, expanding broker relationships, and mentoring future team members.
This is a unique opportunity to join at the ground level and directly influence product development, underwriting standards, and talent growth in a highly specialized and increasingly important class of insurance.

Salary Range: $180,00.00-$200,000.00
Essential Functions:
Underwrite complex tax liability insurance policies, including but not limited to risks relating to renewable tax credits, S -Corp status, REIT qualification, partnership distributions, spin-off transactions, dividend tax implications and more.
Serve as the primary point of contact for brokers, law firms, tax advisors, and insureds in evaluating and structuring coverage solutions.
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key brokerage partners to drive deal flow and brand awareness.
Manage underwriting guidelines, policy templates, and risk appetite frameworks for the tax liability product line.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders including legal, actuarial, compliance, and capacity partners to ensure product soundness and profitability.
Lead client and broker meetings, conference participation, and marketing initiatives to grow visibility and market share.
Mentor and train junior underwriters and analysts as the team scales
Provide thought leadership on market trends, legislative updates, and tax risk developments relevant to underwriting decisions.
Monitor and report on portfolio performance, emerging risks, and pipeline activity.
Job Requirements (education, experience, skills):
Bachelor’s degree required; JD, LLM in Taxation, CPA, or other advanced tax qualification strongly preferred.
Minimum 5 years of experience as a tax advisor, IRS auditor, or tax liability underwriter.
Experience in advising on insurable tax positions.
Existing relationships with leading brokers, tax advisors, and law firms are highly desirable.
Experience in an entrepreneurial environment is a plus.
Skills:
Deep technical knowledge of tax issues commonly arising in M&A, corporate restructurings, and private equity investments.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Self-starter with strong commercial instincts and the ability to work independently and make underwriting decisions.
Ability to travel regularly to meet with brokers and clients across North America.
Leadership qualities with an interest in coaching and developing a growing team over time.
