IAT Insurance Group has an immediate opening for an Assistant Vice President of Claim Services that can report to any IAT location. This role is part of the Claims Services senior leadership team and will manage diverse and complex claims-related functions, ensuring proper claim settlements and provide leadership, guidance, direction and mentoring of team managers.
This role works a hybrid schedule which reflects our values (thinking and acting like an owner, collaboration, and teamwork) as it requires working from the office with colleagues and other disciplines Monday through Wednesday, with the option of working Thursday and Friday remotely.
Responsibilities:
- Leads day-to-day operations for teams handling litigated and non-litigated auto injury claims, with a focus on service, execution excellence and continuous improvement.
- Ability to translate vision into concrete business plans and strategies.
- Ability to motivate a team towards a common goal and inspire action.
- Innovate and appropriately drive change and challenge process.
- Ensure claim handling strategy is effectively managed, providing direction and support of claims in excess of manager’s authority.
- Coordinate as needed to ensure prompt, efficient, and accurate claim payments by maintaining necessary claim controls, thereby providing high levels of customer service.
- Establish best practices and procedures to regularly review management routines and drive excellence in claim quality and litigation strategy.
- Select, develop, motivate, and train a quality staff of managers to achieve Claim Department objectives.
- Foster collaboration with other areas within IAT such as the broader Major Case Unit, Underwriting, Finance, to ensure transparency regarding developing claim trends.
- Utilize data and key performance indicators to observe trends and set action plans to improve claim outcomes.
- Actively participate in Senior Claim leadership on matters such as staffing, guidelines, strategic planning.
- Monitor and evaluate manager performance, providing frequent feedback. Also responsible for hiring, training, developing and mentoring staff.
Qualifications:
Must have:
- Bachelors’ degree with 10 years of relevant claims experience or equivalent.
- Equivalent experience is defined as 14 years of relevant claims experience.
- In lieu of claims experience, relevant IAT experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 10 years management experience.
- In lieu of management experience, relevant IAT experience will be considered.
- Superior written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrates high self-awareness—seeks and embraces candid feedback with resiliency.
- Proven track record of coaching, mentoring, and providing career development direction to direct reports.
- Drives effective team behaviors to ensure optimal outcomes.

Preferred to have:
- Proficiency in lean six sigma, root cause problem solving.
