This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified accountant to join a growing UK business with operations across multiple platforms including UK and Irish Insurance Companies, multiple Lloyd’s Syndicates and a large UK regional branch network.
The role is at the centre of finance and will offer the right candidate a wide range of responsibilities across the finance function, including but not exclusively reporting of the UK Company under US and UK GAAP, annual Financial Statements preparation, input into Solvency UK reporting and reconciliations of technical balances.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
Contribute to the quarter close process, by completing non-automated quarter close processes, as well as supporting and reviewing junior accountants’ quarter close work;
Production of annual statutory and regulatory reporting for AIUK, e.g. financial statements, NAIC return, Surplus Lines;
Input into the Solvency UK reporting templates;
Ownership of intercompany relationship, including completion of quarterly postings, as well as ownership of stakeholder relationships;
Point person for the external auditors during half year, interim and year-end audit cycles;
Ownership of the financial control environment, including but not limited to ensuring efficient and effective operation of the finance SOX controls;
Preparation of technical accounting memos when required, e.g. acquisition accounting, changes in accounting policies etc.;
Drive process improvements across the finance division using automation where applicable;
Project involvement, including when applicable corporate restructure, balance sheet reconciliations and system integration;
Provide support to the UK Financial Controller as and when required;
Liaise with other stakeholders across the business and be proactive in problem solving in a collaborative way.
Skills/Competencies
Strong technical accounting skills and understanding of US GAAP and UK GAAP;
Good attention to detail;
Proactive with strong problem-solving skills;
A strong team player with the ability to be “hands on”;
High competence in Excel;
Previous experience with Workday and OneStream desirable.
Qualifications
Experience
Minimum of 2 years PQ experience;
Insurance market experience;
Preferably previous financial reporting experience.
