We are looking for a Subrogation Representative to join our team. If you have strong customer focus coupled with well-developed communication, organization, analytical and interpersonal skills, we'd like to know!
Reporting to the National Subrogation Unit Team Leader, the Subrogation Representative is accountable to investigate and negotiate the recovery owed to Definity from the responsible third parties. These types of claims will include personal and commercial property and auto losses received from claims offices across Canada.
** This position is available at any one of the following locations: Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa, Mississauga, Waterloo, Edmonton, Calgary, or Vancouver **
What you can expect in this role:
- Review and analyze claims for subrogation potential and determine the ultimate probable outcome of recovery
- Identify and pursue all potential responsible parties
- Prepare files and documents as well as determining the amount of recovery from the claims file
- Contact third parties, third party insurers or lawyers to initiate settlement negotiations
- Manage subrogation related litigation matters across Canada, including file strategy and budget
- Participation in legal proceedings when required
- Manage a large volume of claims files and other subrogation projects as needed
- Increase subrogation awareness and provide support to our claims partners across Canada
What do you bring to the role:
- University degree, a 2-year college diploma or working towards your CIP designation
- Must be bilingual in both written and spoken English/French
- Valid AMF license is required (both personal and commercial)
- 3-5 years of claims handing experience required, preference given to subrogation experience
- Proficient in Word & Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Negotiation and litigation experience would be an asset
- Professional and courteous in all interactions
- Ability to work independently and make decisions quickly when required
- AMF Personal insurance license (5b) required and Commercial insurance license (5a) required.
High degree of proficiency with English required to service customers, both internal to the company and external, across Canada.
Salary Range: $50,200 - $92,500
