What can you expect in this role?
• Provide coverage opinions to the business with respect to a range of property and casualty insurance policies
• Collaborate with underwriters to answer legal questions and provide advice regarding policy language and interpretation
• Play an advisory role to Definity’ s Claims department in relation to policy coverage questions and interpretation
• Contribute to development of overall Definity strategies and policies relating to product development and implementation
• Opportunity to assist and collaborate on coverage litigation matters.
What do you bring to the role?
• Law Degree from an accredited law school (LLB or Juris Doctor)
• Licensed by the Law Society of Ontario or Law Society of Alberta to practice law as a lawyer in Ontario and/or Alberta
• At least 3 years of post-call experience working in insurance coverage or a comparable field
• Exceptional written communication and research skills
• An ability to grasp complex problems, distill important information and provide concise advice and direction to a varied audience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and PowerPoint
• Sound judgment, with the ability to critically analyze situations, problem-solve, deal with ambiguity, and provide meaningful advice and recommendations
• Capable of working independently to perform under pressure, meet deadlines and prioritize work according to importance
• High degree of personal ethics, integrity and responsibility with an ability to deal with sensitive issues and safeguard confidential information
• Assertiveness in practice, but reasonable and forthright
• Interest in and curiosity about issues and problems in private law including contracts and tort theory
• Team player, adaptable to a changing environment

Salary Range is $91,000 - $187,200
