Description
The role of Syndicate Manager has been created to assist with the ongoing management of the newly created Syndicate 1984. There is a wide variety of activities across multiple functions that will need to be undertaken in order to ensure that Convex is able to meet the requirements of Lloyd’s and Asta as well as ensure smooth operation of the syndicate.
As the Syndicate Manager, you will oversee the cross-functional activities required to support the syndicate along with the coordination of ongoing engagement with Asta and Lloyd’s.
You will work closely with the Active Underwriter and report directly into the Head of Underwriting Operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic plans for the syndicate
- Oversee underwriting decisions, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that activities required to submit various returns to Lloyd’s and Asta are completed in line with required timelines. This includes preparation of the SBF, quarterly reserving and aggregate exposures returns.
- Collaborate with syndicate functions to ensure seamless operations across the business
- Act as liaison between internal functions, Asta and Lloyd’s.
- Ensure key reinsurance contracts between Convex and the Syndicate are managed effectively.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
Proven track record in the Lloyd’s market, with a robust understanding of financial reporting, regulatory requirements and performance analysis techniques.
Intimate understanding of underwriting, operations governance and risk management.
Effective communicator with the ability to set and manage expectations clearly and foster collaborative relationships with all stakeholders.
Good at leading and driving things forward; able to handle and prioritise various projects, initiatives and deadlines.
The ability to influence and constructively challenge internal as well as external stakeholders and drive a culture of continuous improvement.
