About the team and the role:
Reporting to the Global CTO (matrix to the Head of International Business), the International Head of Technology owns the full technology agenda outside North America. You will harmonize core insurance platforms and field applications across Europe, integrate newly acquired brokers and MGAs, and embed enterprise standards while nurturing an entrepreneurial, hands-on culture across operations in Eastern and Western Europe. The remit spans dedicated technologists plus embedded BU talent.
How you'll contribute:
- Shape the regional tech strategy — translate the global roadmap into country-specific execution plans, with a primary focus on harmonizing brokerage and policy-administration platforms (e.g., Acturis, Applied Epic, Open GI, Guidewire, Sapiens).
- Implement & optimize enterprise solutions — deploy and support ERP, CRM, collaboration, cloud, and insurance-specific systems; ensure seamless integration with corporate data and security standards.
- Standardize field applications — consolidate disparate quoting, claims and customer-service tools into a common European stack, streamlining user experience and vendor footprint.
- Lead M&A integrations — own technology due-diligence, Day-1 readiness, data migration and TSA exit for all international acquisitions.
- Run IT operations & support — establish ITIL-aligned processes, regional NOC oversight and a service-oriented culture across every location.
- Governance, risk & compliance — embed GDPR, FCA and DORA controls into infrastructure, data flows and vendor contracts; partner closely with Cybersecurity and Data teams on privacy and resilience.
- Build & inspire teams — recruit and mentor geographically dispersed engineers, architects and service-desk staff; leverage existing talent within acquired businesses to accelerate delivery.
- Advise senior stakeholders — act as trusted technology partner to BU CEOs and COOs, clearly communicating roadmaps, risks and opportunities.
Requirements:
- Extensive experience in global or regional IT leadership, with deep experience in insurance-platform implementation and optimization.
- Demonstrated success integrating acquisitions and standardizing ERP / core insurance systems across multiple countries.
- Expertise in European brokerage and policy-administration platforms (Acturis, Applied, Open GI, Guidewire, Sapiens or similar), plus cloud (Azure / AWS), DevOps and ITSM (ServiceNow).
- Working knowledge of GDPR, FCA, DORA and other European insurance-sector regulations; ability to embed compliance into technical designs.
- Fluency in English and at least one major European language (German, French, Spanish or Italian).
- Entrepreneurial, hands-on leadership style; comfortable operating in matrixed, multicultural environments.
- Certifications such as ITIL v4 MP, TOGAF, PMP/Prince2, and a major cloud architect credential (AWS, Azure or GCP).
- Track record driving technology standardization and cost optimization within insurance carriers or large broker networks.
