We are seeking a talented individual to join our Health Actuarial Consulting team at Mercer. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
As a Sr. Health Actuarial Consultant, you will manage client projects focused on employers’ health benefits strategies, including financial projections, plan design optimization, and renewal negotiations. You will also serve as a primary financial contact for clients while providing direction to analysts and associates.
We will count on you to:
- Lead client engagements related to health benefits strategies, including financial projections, plan design optimization, renewal negotiations, and benchmarking.
- Manage overall service delivery, providing strategic guidance and ensuring high-quality outcomes for clients.
- Review data analyses performed by junior team members to ensure actuarial accuracy and support their professional development.
- Conduct complex analyses and cost projections using Excel, SAS, and other tools, with potential specialization in healthcare-related insurance areas.
- Prepare and review client reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommend actionable strategies.
What you need to have:
- BA/BS degree in actuarial science, math, statistics, finance, economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in underwriting or actuarial roles, with a focus on health and benefits consulting.
- Progress toward ASA designation or equivalent.
- Client-facing experience with strong communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Marsh McLennan is committed to hybrid work, which includes the flexibility of working remotely and the collaboration, connections and professional development benefits of working together in the office. All Marsh McLennan colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person.
The applicable base salary range for this role is $93,500 to $187,000.
The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
