Special Risk Underwriters (SRU) is conducting a candidate search looking a Senior Underwriter to support the SRU XS Casualty Sidecar program. SRU is an AmWINS Group company (www.amwins.com).

Position Overview
Amwins is looking for a Senior Underwriter to join the Amwins Special Risk Underwriting team. The role will be responsible for writing profitable business within established guidelines, management of various relationships, and underwriting of risks. The ideal candidate will be able to function independently and think creatively.

While working with the industry’s leading wholesalers, our Senior Underwriters are focused on business results and the overall financial health of the program/s they support. Responsibilities
- Manage book of business including underwriting new business and maintaining renewal ratios.
- Marketing of product to wholesale brokers through e-mail, phone calls and personal visits
- Help team members by answering questions they might have regarding department procedures, coverage issues
- Assist in the training and development of team members
- Guide and direct underwriting assistants.
Qualifications
- 4 – 8 years of underwriting experience with a focus on excess casualty risks (experience with quota share structures a plus)
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office proficiency with an emphasis in Word and Excel
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Be able to work with limited supervision
- Ability to adapt, learn and identify process improvement opportunities
- Ability to prioritize important and pressing tasks
- Innate organizational skills, willingness to take on challenges, and focus on personal responsibility
