Job Description
The Role
Supports the maintenance and development of Canopius’ capital modelling capabilities and the delivery of key model outputs, including SCR (Solvency Capital Requirement) submissions, whilst contributing to wider strategic initiatives related to risk appetite, capital optimisation and reinsurance.
Responsibilities
- Updates parameters and capital models for changes in the risk profile.
- Performs movement analysis to explain changes in model results.
- Runs capital models for regulatory and business use purposes, including risk appetite reporting and reinsurance analysis.
- Supports the Risk team in model validation.
- Prepares model documentation in line with regulatory requirements.
- Collects data for annual reports and management information packs, including standard formula returns.
- Performs data reconciliation between various systems and reports to ensure the reliability and completeness of the data used.
- Assists in relevant actuarial input to business planning activities during the annual planning.
- Tests various risk mitigation options
Skills And Experience
- Actuarial/statistical background
- Desire to quickly develop expertise
- MS skills, understanding of the use of database and programming languages
- Strong problem solving skills
- Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written
- An individual who will identify and challenge under-performance in the organisation and strive for constant improvement
- Strong attention to detail and focused on the delivery of high quality work within agreed deadlines – including thorough self-review and error checking
- Highly motivated, enthusiastic and structured working style
- Proactive and able to use own initiative – adaptable / open minded
- Ability to think and act creatively around related issues
