The Role
We are looking for an experienced generalist Senior People Advisor to join the People team in London. While the role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, the primary emphasis will be on managing and supporting employee relations activities for a specific Line of Business (LOB).
The ideal candidate will be organised, solutions-focused, pro-active and able to easily build relationships with stakeholders at all levels. You need to be calm under pressure and thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environment. You will need to be able to hit the ground running and operate both independently, but also as a team.
The role holder will play a key role in delivering a professional, credible People function that supports the management team in achieving organisational excellence in all aspects of people management.
Duties
1. Coach and train line managers, advising them on issues such as performance and absence management.
2. Support/lead on other employee relations matters, including disciplinaries, grievances and all other aspects of people management from start to finish aiming to resolve cases successfully whilst minimising risk to the business.
3. Work with the relevant People Lead and/or People Manager during the annual performance review process. This is likely to include:
- Collating the relevant information for all employees in the business unit
- Providing information to managers and collecting it in a timely manner.
- Advising managers throughout the process to ensure a smooth process that meets all deadlines.
4. Support the People Lead with MI reporting and other ad hoc tasks as required.
5. Support the People Operations Team across the business, ensuring processes are accurately followed and systems are updated.
6. Work closely with the People Lead and/or People Manager to support on the annual compensation process.
7. Complete ad hoc tasks/projects as requested.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Experience working at an Advisor level within a fast-paced environment
- Experience of managing employment relations issues, including performance improvement plans, disciplinaries and grievances in the UK
- Significant UK Employment Law knowledge
- University degree or equivalent experience
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Good Microsoft Office experience (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Comprehensive up-to-date knowledge of employment law
- Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and collaborative skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Experience managing multiple employee relations issues and confidently managing People projects.
- Ability to influence a range of personalities and manage expectations
- Experience with database management (HRIS system), Workday preferred.
- An all-rounder generalist HR Professional.
Desirable
- Working towards or achieved CIPD qualification
- Experience managing and leading People projects
- Good understanding of immigration law
