The Asset & Configuration Management Lead is responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of IT assets within the organization, including hardware, software, and related infrastructure (Network, Unified communications etc) and Application components. This role ensures accurate tracking, procurement, deployment, maintenance, and decommissioning of assets while driving compliance, cost control, and process improvements. The Asset & Configuration Management Lead will collaborate with IT, finance, procurement, and security teams to maintain a reliable and efficient asset management program. The Asset and Configuration Lead will manage all configuration items in the CMDB, overseeing discovery, mapping, record management, and periodic attestation as part of asset management oversight.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership: Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of configuration and asset management in accordance with ITIL standards.
Develop and execute strategies to enhance the maturity of these processes throughout the organization.
Develop, refine, and document policies, processes, and procedures for configuration and asset management.
Manage the discovery, mapping, and record management processes via IT Operations Management (ITOM) processes and tools.
Maintain an accurate inventory of all hardware and software assets throughout their lifecycle.
Ensure the integrity and accuracy of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and IT Asset Management repositories.
Coordinate asset procurement, deployment, transfers, disposals, and audits.
Ensure compliance with software licensing agreements and track renewals.
Establish and enforce policies and procedures related to asset tracking, tagging, and usage.
Collaborate with finance and procurement teams on budgeting, forecasting, and vendor negotiations.
Generate reports and dashboards on asset utilization, inventory status, and cost analysis.
Support audit and compliance activities, including internal controls and regulatory requirements.
Manage vendor relationships and contract records related to IT assets.
Train and guide team members and stakeholders on asset management processes
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
8+ years of progressive experience in managing configuration management and/or asset management processes.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
FUNCTIONAL SKILLS
Strong knowledge of ITAM frameworks (e.g., ITIL, ISO 19770).
Significant hands-on experience with ServiceNow, specifically in Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and Asset Management modules.
Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and continuously improving ITIL-based configuration and asset management processes.
Experience managing IT asset lifecycles, including procurement, deployment, maintenance, and disposal.
Experience leading or mentoring a team of IT professionals.
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Analytical mindset with a passion for using data to drive decisions and process improvements.
Familiarity with audit, compliance, and regulatory frameworks relevant to IT asset management (e.g., SOX, HIPAA, GDPR) is a plus.
Experience managing vendor relationships and procurement processes.
Familiarity with configuration management databases (CMDB) and service management platforms.
Ability to design and maintain robust data models within the CMDB and asset management modules.
Strong project management skills, with experience delivering process improvements and IT solutions on time and within scope.
Keen attention to detail and commitment to data integrity.
Demonstrated success in navigating organizational change and driving user adoption of new tools and processes.
Continuous learner, staying abreast of emerging trends in IT service management, ServiceNow capabilities, and industry best practices.
Preferred Experience
10-12 years of related Asset Management experience
