The Role
This is an opportunity to join a market-leading actuarial pricing team at a major global specialty (re)insurer, giving exposure to a wide range of products and pricing techniques.
You will co-ordinate the technical development of the group’s next generation of pricing models in the HX platform. This will involve making practical design decisions as part of the day-to-day evolution of the pricing models as well as advising on the long-term direction and strategy for the project.
The role will involve daily interaction with pricing actuaries and underwriters as well as IT and data developers.
You must be commercially-minded, have a very strong technical background and be able to communicate complex concepts to non-technical audiences clearly and succinctly. You will enjoy working in a supportive but fast-paced environment which values and acts upon actuarial insights.
Familiarity with python is essential and knowledge of the HX platform is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Co-ordinate the technical development of the group’s next generation of pricing models. This will involve fully understanding the dynamics of the models and how they are constructed.
- Make practical day-to-day design decisions on the best way to develop the models.
- Advise on the long-term direction and strategy for the project.
- Be the main point of contact for the IT and data teams on the technical aspects of the platform.
- Propose enhancements to the pricing tools based on independent research and discussions with the wider team.
- Work with the wider pricing team to enhance their coding skills and development practices.
Skills
- Excellent python knowledge, ideally with familiarity with the hx platform.
- Very strong knowledge of specialty (re)insurance pricing techniques.
- A practical, user-focussed mindset.
- Ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and succinct manner.
