We are looking for a Senior Underwriter, Tech Cyber & Professional Lines Insurance to join our Specialty Lines Solutions team. In this role, you will focus on underwriting new and renewal business, analyzing risk, and working closely with our distribution partners to provide responsive, well-structured solutions. You will bring technical expertise in Professional Liability, Technology E&O and Cyber Insurance lines of business to a portfolio that continues to grow profitably.
How you will create impact:
- Underwrite and manage a profitable book of new and renewal business in Technology E&O, Cyber and Professional Liability insurance within Sovereign’s risk guidelines.
- Review submissions, assess exposures, and determine appropriate terms, conditions and pricing.
- Collect and evaluate industry and market information to support sound underwriting decisions.
- Collaborate to the review of policy wordings to ensure coverage terms and conditions are competitive and appropriate.
- Work with different distribution channels to provide responsive service and tailored solutions for our clients.
- Analyze risks by understanding controls and processes, ensuring exposures are identified and properly mitigated.

- You are adaptable and curious, staying informed in emerging risks within the Technology, Cyber and Professional Liability space.

To join our team:
- You have a Bachelors degree, or one of the following professional designations: CIP, FCIP, CRM or RPLU.
- Bilingual proficiency in French and English is a core requirement.
- 5+ years of underwriting experience in Professional Liability, Technology E&O and /or Cyber Insurance.
- Proven ability to drive new business growth and expand a portfolio through collaboration with brokers and other distribution partners.
- Strong analytical skills and an understanding of portfolio analysis metrics.
- Proven ability to evaluate exposures, apply underwriting guidelines and manage a profitable portfolio.
- Confidence in market facing interactions with our partner brokers and other distribution partners.
- This position also works with majority non-francophone groups, and teams located outside of Québec, and requires proficiency in English. The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.
What you need to know:
- You will handle sensitive information where a high degree of confidentiality and discretion is required.
- You will travel to market and represent the Technology, Cyber and Professional Liability team to our partner brokers and other distribution partners across Quebec, Atlantic Canada and occasionally in other Canadian provinces.
- You will be subject to a background check as a condition of employment, in the event you are the successful candidate.
- This position will operate on a hybrid work posture which will require an in-office presence of at least twice a week.
